No. The new ticket is only valid for one person. Children under the age of 6 travel free of charge as before.

If you buy an additional Weekend+ ticket for 15.00 €, 1 person and 3 children (aged 6-14) can accompany you on the entire hvv network free of charge on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as well as on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. This Weekend+ Ticket is valid for one calendar month at a time and is available in the App, at ticket machines or in any service centre.

No, the ticket is not transferable.

The hvv Deutschlandticket is restricted to one person and is only valid in combination with some form of photo ID. Children aged 6 to 14 should also have a photo ID with them when they travel (e.g. a school student card, an identity card, a child’s ID, a health insurance card). A copy of such a card may also be carried.
Children under 6 travel free of charge as before.

No, the hvv Deutschlandticket is only valid in 2nd class. To travel in 1st class carriages on the hvv, you need to buy an additional upgrade ticket for 1st class. This costs 2.70 € for a single journey in hvv fare rings A-F or 49.00 € on the entire hvv network as a monthly upgrade.

The 1st class upgrade ticket bought on the hvv is only valid on hvv services. Additional options to use the 1st class may be available in the various regional public transport associations.

Bicycles can only be taken on board free of charge in the hvv on rapid transit trains (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, AKN) as well as on many bus lines Mon – Fri before 6 am, 9 am – 4 pm and from 6 pm, on weekends and public holidays all day, as well as at any time on the harbour ferries (Lines 61–75). There is a reasonably priced day bicycle ticket for 3.50 € (online 3.26 €) to take a bike on RB/RE trains in hvv fare rings A – F.

The day bicycle ticket you buy on the hvv is only valid to take a bike on board regional trains in hvv fare rings A-F.

There are different rules concerning taking your dog with you outside the hvv. There are no countrywide rules about taking along dogs on the hvv Deutschlandticket.

Yes, you can. The social discount of the City of Hamburg is also planned to apply to the hvv Deutschlandticket. If you qualify for the social discount, you can get the hvv Deutschlandticket for 19.00 €. The hvv Deutschlandticket with the social discount is only available using the online form at www.hvv-deutschlandticket.de or directly at a service centre.

The electronic verifiability on the hvv is guaranteed. In addition, it will be ensured that your right to travel will be accepted all over Germany.

Buying the ticket

The hvv Deutschlandticket can be bought in the hvv switch App, online at www.hvv-deutschlandticket.de and in all our service centres.
Payment in the hvv switch App can be direct debit (SEPA), credit card, debit card and PayPal.
If you buy the hvv Deutschlandticket online or at a service centre (on a chipcard/hvv Card), payment will be via direct debit from your bank account. For this, you need to authorize a separate SEPA direct debit mandate.

If you do not have a smartphone, you can also get your hvv Deutschlandticket on a chipcard. This can be purchased easily as of 03/04/2023 online or in our service centres.

Yes, you can start flexibly and pay pro rata in the 1st month. If you buy the hvv Deutschlandticket on your smartphone via the switch App, then you can travel as soon as the ticket appears on your phone If you buy your hvv Deutschlandticket online on a chipcard, the earliest date you can choose as start date is 10 working days from the date you bought it. After you order the hvv Deutschlandticket online, your chipcard will be sent to you by post.

It is not possible to get a hvv Deutschlandticket without a payment medium on which the price can be drawn (e.g. a bank account or a credit card), since the ticket may only be issued all over Germany according to the stipulations from the Government as an all-year season ticket. However the hvv is offering new, reduced-price weekly and monthly tickets. These can be bought in hvv service centres, at ticket machines and of course also online and are valid on the entire hvv network. The weekly ticket costs 29.00 s and the monthly ticket 69.00 €. Both tickets are valid on the entire hvv network and cost less than the weekly and monthly tickets for Hamburg AB which were available up to now. To compare: a monthly season ticket for Hamburg AB previously cost 118.20 €, one for the entire hvv network even 262.00 €. The social discount of 30.00 € is also applicable to the new monthly ticket, so that you can then get full mobility on the entire hvv network for 39.00 € a month.

Customers who want to get their hvv Deutschlandticket on their smartphone can currently only do this in the hvv switch App. This is a very good fit for the new hvv Deutschlandticket as regards its structure and background system. At the same time the hvv switch App also offers complementary mobility options.

That said, after you have logged in to the hvv switch App and bought it there, the hvv Deutschlandticket will also be displayed under “Tickets” in the hvv App.

A ticket you have ordered can still be cancelled as long as its period of validity has not yet started, provided that it has not yet been paid for and generated. A ticket can be cancelled using the „Cancel” button on "Dein hvv Deutschlandticket" in the hvv switch App.
If you have ordered your ticket in the customer portal or in a hvv service centre, get in touch with or Customer Service at kundenservice@hochbahn.de. If it is no longer possible to cancel the ticket, you will need to cancel the subscription.

The hvv Deutschlandticket can be cancelled monthly up to the 10th of the current month. There will be a menu to do this in the hvv switch App. If you have your hvv Deutschlandticket on a chipcard, you can cancel it at online customer portal (meinhvv) or in a hvv service centre.

This option is not currently offered. The hvv Deutschlandticket can be cancelled monthly and ordered again at any time. Our tip: the easiest way to order and manage the hvv Deutschlandticket is via the hvv switch App.

The additional monthly upgrade ticket for 1st class (47.20 €) and the additional Weekend+ ticket for taking along other persons (15.00 €) will be available from May in the hvv switch App, the hvv App, in the Online Shop or at ticket machines and in the service centres. This is then valid on hvv services for the calendar month in which it is bought. It will not be automatically renewed and needs to be bought again if you need it.

The ticket range offered by the hvv has been thoroughly redesigned with the introduction of the hvv Deutschlandticket.
Existing all-year season tickets which cost more than 49.00 € a month will be automatically switched over to the hvv Deutschlandticket at a price of 49.00 € a month as of 01/05/2023. All our existing clients will be informed in good time and do not need to do anything themselves.

Yes. Single or day tickets, the weekly season ticket for the entire hvv network for 29.00 € and the monthly season ticket for the entire hvv network for 69.00 € can be bought just as before in the hvv Online Shop, in the hvv switch App, in the hvv App as well as at ticket machines.
Both season tickets are valid on the entire hvv network and cost less than the weekly and monthly season tickets previously available just for the Hamburg AB fare rings. To compare: a monthly season ticket for Hamburg AB previously cost 118.20 €, one for the entire hvv network 262.00 €.

The social discount of 30.00 € also applies to the monthly season ticket, so that you can then get full mobility on the entire hvv network for 39.00 € a month.

Reduced-price tickets

Yes. School students and apprentices/trainees as well as those entitled to the social discount can get reduced-price tickets. School students in Hamburg who qualify for the social discount travel free of charge.

If you are entitled to the social discount on top of that, you can also hand in the application in the service centre later.

School passes can be ordered online and the entitlement form uploaded. Up to 14 years of age, it is sufficient to show proof of your age. From 15 on, you will need to have a currently valid entitlement form.
The BonusTicket for apprentices/trainees can only be ordered with the proof of entitlement in a service centre.
The hvv Deutschlandticket is also available at all our service centres.

Unfortunately it is not possible to get the hvv Deutschlandticket unless you have a means of payment from which the monthly costs can be repeatedly debited (such as a bank account or a credit card), since it is a condition stipulated for the ticket all over Germany that it should be issued as a subscription product. If you do not have a bank account of your own, the account of another person may be used.

There are however new, reduced-price weekly and monthly tickets on the hvv which you can get without needing to have a bank account. These are available in hvv service centres, at ticket machines and of course also online. The weekly ticket costs 29.00 €, the monthly ticket 69.00 €. Both season tickets are valid on the entire hvv network and cost less than the weekly and monthly season tickets available previously just for the Hamburg AB fare rings. To compare: a monthly season ticket for Hamburg AB previously cost 118.20 €, one for the entire hvv network 262.00 €.

The social discount of 30 euros also applies to the monthly season ticket, so that you can then get full mobility on the entire hvv network for 39.00 € a month.

At the moment it is not yet possible to take the social discount of the City of Hamburg into account if you buy the hvv Deutschlandticket in the hvv switch App. In order to get a discounted hvv Deutschlandticket, you need to cancel the subscription in the hvv switch App and order a new one online or in a hvv service centre. In any case you need to show your proof of entitlement for the social discount in the service centre.
A retroactive refund for a ticket you have already used in the hvv switch App is unfortunately not possible.

All all-year season tickets for senior citizens 63+ which up to now cost between 54.00 € (Hamburg AB) and 120.90 € (entire hvv network) will be reduced to s standardized price of 49.00 € and are then valid countrywide.
All existing customers have been informed in good time and do not need to do anything themselves. The current (red) hvv Card will continue to be valid. It will count as a hvv Deutschlandticket and so can be used on local and regional services all over Germany.
Senior citizens with an all-year season ticket which costs less than 49.00 € will continue to pay the same price as before until 31/08/2023. Of course, you have the option to switch to a hvv Deutschlandticket in your meinhvv client account at hvv.de.
The upgrade to 1st class on regional trains will in future be offered at a standardized price of 47.20 €.

I already have an all-year season ticket/ProfiTicket

Yes, if it includes more than 3 fare zones. From the area of validity Hamburg AB upwards, it will automatically be switched over to the hvv Deutschlandticket.
If it includes 3 fare zones or less, the price is less than 49.00 €. For that reason the rules applying up to now will continue (i.e., restriction to the previous area and times of validity) till 31/08 All-year subscriptions which cost less than 49.00 €,with the exception of school passes, will then be discontinued. Customers who have an all-year season ticket which costs less than 49.00 € will continue to pay the same price as before until 31/08/2023. Of course, you have the option to switch to a hvv Deutschlandticket in your meinhvv client account at hvv.de.

If the area of validity you had up to now still appears in your meinhvv account, this means that the system has not yet been updated. The hvv Card is nevertheless valid as a hvv Deutschlandticket on local and regional services (2nd class) all over Germany.

Due to the conditions stipulated for the ticket by the government, which apply all over Germany, the rules about taking other people with you which previously applied on hvv services are unfortunately no longer possible with the hvv Deutschlandticket. All in all, however, the hvv Deutschlandticket, which will be valid for travel on local and regional services all over Germany, represents considerable extra value for money as well as offering a substantial saving to most of our existing customers.

If you buy an additional Weekend + ticket as a top-up to your season ticket for € 15 in the App, at ticket machines or in any service centre, 1 person and 3 children (aged 6-14) can accompany you on the entire hvv network free of charge on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as well as on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. This Weekend+ Ticket is valid for one calendar month at a time.

When the hvv Deutschlandticket is introduced, the rules about taking bikes and dogs on board on the entire hvv network will stay the same as they were.

In a few months it will be possible to transfer the all-year season ticket from the hvv Card to your smartphone. We will get in touch with you as soon as this can be done for your all-year season ticket in the hvv switch App.

There is no need for an extraordinary right of cancellation If your all-year season ticket costs more than 49 €, it will be automatically switched over to the hvv Deutschlandticket. That means that you can travel on local public transport all over Germany more cheaply as of 01/05/2023 and you only pay 49.00 €.
If your all-year season ticket costs less than 49 €, you will continue to pay the same price for now. But you have the option as of 01/05/2023 to switch to a hvv Deutschlandticket in your meinhvv client account at hvv.de.
If you have a 3-zone off-peak all-year season ticket and the social discount, you have the option to cancel your subscription as per 30/04/2023 without having to pay an adjustment charge.

Yes.
If you cannot use your hvv Deutschlandticket because you were confined to bed or needed to go to a medically prescribed health cure or were in quarantine for longer than 21 days, we will refund you the fare money for that period if you send us a certificate proving this. There is a pre-printed form for this, which is available at all service centres with hvv Card Service. Please attach an individual medical certificate from your doctor.

There will be a new design for the hvv Card when the hvv Deutschlandticket starts. All existing clients who already have a hvv Card (with an all-year season ticket) and do not want to transfer this later to the hvv switch App will be provided with a new Card in the course of the year. Your hvv Card with a photo stays valid as your hvv Deutschlandticket provided you have not cancelled.

School children / Apprentices/trainees / Students

Yes. The Hamburg Schools Special is also planned for the hvv Deutschlandticket. If you go to school in Hamburg, you can get the hvv Deutschlandticket at a price of 19.00 €. If you also qualify on top of that for the social discount, you get the hvv Deutschlandticket for nothing.

https://www.hvv.de/en/school

Existing student tickets which cost more than 49.00 € a month will be automatically switched over to the hvv Deutschlandticket at a price of 49.00 €. All our existing clients will be informed in good time and do not need to do anything themselves. Your current hvv Card remains valid and counts as a hvv Deutschlandticket and thus is valid on regional and local services all over Germany.

Student tickets which cost less than 49.00 € a month, with the exception of tickets for school children, will be discontinued. The validity of tickets for existing clients will however be maintained till the end of August. The best alternative is to switch over to the hvv Deutschlandticket, then you can travel all over Germany for 49.00 €.

Students with a hvv SemesterTicket can buy an upgrade to the hvv Deutschlandticket as an all-year season ticket for about 18.00 € per calendar month. The exact price depends on what SemesterTicket you have. The rules up to now on taking persons with you (3 children from 6-14 in the hvv area your SemesterTicket is valid for) remain unchanged.

The rules up to now on taking persons with you (3 children from 6-14 in the hvv area your SemesterTicket is valid for) remain unchanged.

You can find all information about the SemesterTicket Upgrade here.

About the hvv switch App

To run the hvv switch App you need at least iOS 14 or Android 8.0 and higher.

After you have successfully registered, the App will help you navigate the buying process and will ask necessary prerequisites such as e.g. your full name and the means of payment you wish to use (direct debit (SEPA), PayPal or credit card. This is why you should confirm your email address within 7 days.

There are instructions on how to register for hvv switch on the hvv switch website at https://www.hvv-switch.de/en/faq/search/?q=register. We will need your email address for the first-time registration. You need to confirm this within 7 days.

If you have a mobility budget (this is offered by employees and companies which are participants), you can of course claim for this in the hvv switch App.

Your ticket is valid from the date you choose. The countdown which runs for 90 seconds directly after the purchase clearly signals in a ticket inspection whether the ticket was purchased before you entered the area where you have to have a ticket.

You can recognize a modern debit card by the MasterCard or Visa logo on the card - older Maestro cards with the red and blue logo are not storable.

No. The countrywide price for the hvv Deutschlandticket is 49.00 €.
The 7% discount still applies for single, day and group tickets purchased in the App or online.

With the hvv Deutschlandticket you can use all local and regional buses and trains in the 2nd class. Further options in the hvv switch App such as carsharing, MOIA and Scooter must be booked on top and paid extra. Please remember that you need to have your driving licence validated to use carsharing options.

Yes. As soon as your hvv Deutschlandticket Hs been loaded in the hvv switch it will be displayed at all times whether you are on- or offline.

No, that is not possible. The App needs to be online.

The reason may be that your internet connection is too weak so that the booking process cannot be correctly completed. The Deutschlandticket in the hvv switch App can only be displayed if you have a smartphone which has at least operating system iOS 14 or Android 8.0. Depending on your device, the refresh may not happen automatically. Please check whether your hvv switch App is the newest version. If everything is up to date, close the hvv switch App and then open it again, then your  ticket will be displayed under "Your Deutschlandticket" in your profile.  If there are still problems then, get in touch with the hvv switch customer service under info@hvv-switch.de or phone 040/3288-6363  (reachable Mon-Fri from 8 am till 6 pm).

No. Use is only permitted to the person who registered in the hvv switch App.

At the moment it is not yet possible to take the social discount of the City of Hamburg into account if you buy the hvv Deutschlandticket in the hvv switch App. In order to get a discounted hvv Deutschlandticket, you need to cancel the subscription in the hvv switch App and order a new one online at www.hvv-deutschlandticket.de or in a hvv service centre. In any case you need to show your proof of entitlement for the social discount in the service centre.

We want to offer you the simplest route possible to your hvv Deutschlandticket. And that is exactly what you get with the hvv switch App: fast, uncomplicated access to your favoured mobility option- including the hvv Deutschlandticket.

We are constantly developing our services in order to improve them and make them easier for you to use. To enable that, it is necessary at the moment to register via hvv switch.

When the hvv App was developed, it was intended to be used purely for classic local public transport services, with the main functions being timetable info and ticket purchase. Today, mobility is far more diversified: besides bus and rail, you can use car sharing, e-scooters, ride sharing and further options in and around Hamburg. The goal of the hvv switch App is to reflect this diversity and to give you one central, easy-to-use access to your favoured mobility option.

To the hvv switch Customer Service. They are reachable Mon-Fri from 8 am to 6 pm at info@hvv-switch.de or by phone under (040) 3288 - 6363.

Ticket inspections

The electronic verifiability on the hvv is guaranteed. In addition, it will be ensured that your right to travel will be accepted all over Germany.

If there are problems with a Deutschlandticket which was not purchased from the hvv, please get in touch with the public transport association which you bought the Deutschlandticket from.

Unfortunately, hvv is unable to reimburse tickets you may have had to buy or penalties from other transport operators (e.g. DB, BVG etc.) since we do not have access to their data. For reasons of data privacy, we are also not permitted to send your data to other transport operators.

In order to get reimbursed or to get a penalty notice cancelled, please get in touch directly with  the transport operator you had to buy an additional ticket from or which issued you the penalty notice (increased penalty fare). To help with this, we will be happy to issue you an additional certificate confirming that your ticket was valid at the time of the inspection.

The hvv Card you had up to now and the 24/7 all-year season ticket which was stored on it is recognized as a Deutschlandticket valid all over Germany if it cost more than 49.00 € up to now. The prices were adjusted accordingly automatically as of 01/05/2023, so that the price was reduced to 49.00 € (for a regular Deutschlandticket), 29.00 € (if you had a BonusTicket for apprentices and trainees) or 19.00 € (for a Schools Special or a Deutschlandticket with social discount).
You can read out what hvv season ticket you currently have  on your hvv Card via the App “hvv Card Info”. You can find here a list of the season tickets which are valid as a Deutschlandticket. You can prove that your ticket is valid as a Deutschlandticket with this.

In addition, all our existing clients whose 24/7 all-year season ticket stored on the hvv Card was switched over to the Deutschlandticket as of 01/05/2023 have had the option for some time now to get a certificate showing that their hvv Card is valid as a Deutschlandticket. This can be obtained directly from hvv service centres, on request by phone from the all-year season ticket client service hotline under 040/19449 or by email (kundenservice@hochbahn.de) and it will then be sent to you by email.

During the coming summer, all our existing clients will have the option to use their Deutschlandticket with the means of payment they already had digitally in the hvv switch App. If you do not want to do this, your old hvv Card will be replaced during the course of the year by a new black chipcard printed with the name “hvv Deutschlandticket”.
